ifrench-gut software package provides French dictionary for ispell (GUTenberg version), you can install in your Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install ifrench-gut
ifrench-gut is installed in your system.
Make ensure the ifrench-gut package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep ifrench-gut *
You will get with ifrench-gut package name, version, architecture and description in a table
